These guidelines apply to all University staff members

Purpose


These guidelines provide further explanation and recommended best practices for implementing the Car Parking Policy.
Additionally this document details the specific payment terms at the Owen G. Glenn Building.

Guidelines


Car park permits

  • Applications for staff car park permits are made by downloading the car parking application form
  • Please note: Parking fees are calculated for the whole calendar year including normal holidays
    Cancellations for periods less than one year and reinstatements made within 3 months of cancellation, will incur a $100 administration fee.
  • Once completed send to car parking at the addresses mentioned on the application form 
  • Your application will be acknowledged and, subject to availability, processed at the earliest opportunity
  • Applicants will be advised when the permit is ready for collection from the Security Desk (located at 24 Symonds Street)
  • For staff members issued with permits to park the permit is to be paid for either by a fortnightly deduction from the staff member's salary or, as a single annual amount payable in full at the beginning of the year
  • Where the application is made on behalf of a department their operating account will be debited internally from the month the permit is issued or, for each year of renewal, at the commencement of the financial year
  • Vehicles occupying University staff car parks must display a current permit at all times. Any vehicle not displaying a permit or is illegally parked may receive a warning and/or will be clamped or towed at the owner's expense
  • Users of any University car park (including permit holders) must not park for longer than a 24 hour period unless prior arrangements have been made with the Carpark Administrator or they hold reserved parking permit
  • The charges for parking are reviewed annually and a circular advice is issued by the Registrar’s Office prior to the close of the University year

OGGB building parking terms

  • Casual hourly parking is available Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm. A flat rate applies from 5pm to closing time (11.30pm); weekdays and all day on weekends. On entering the car park obtain a ticket at the barrier arm. When returning to your vehicle, pay for the parking at a pay station by the lifts. Insert the ticket to raise the barrier arm. After 11.30pm the security grill will open as the car approaches after passing through the barrier arm. Check signage at the OGGB for current rates

Visitor parking

  • Visitor car parks are spaces assigned solely for those visiting the University on official business. They are only to be used for temporary, short-term parking
  • City visitor parking is available at the Owen G Glenn building car park in Grafton Road at the currently applying casual rates
  • There is also short term visitor parking available on the Tamaki Campus contact Tamaki Campus Information (on ext 85299) and on the Epsom Campus (contact main reception, phone 623 8899)

Disability parking

  • Disability parks are designated parking spaces within University Car Parks for the use of staff members, students and visitors with disabilities. The Disabilities Office is able to provide information about these

Definitions


The following definitions apply to these guidelines:

Car park includes any designated parking area within the premises

Car park permit is an authorisation which allows the holder to park in either a covered, uncovered or reserved parking space, as specified on the permit, according to the conditions under which it is issued. It must be displayed at all times

  • Staff Permit - provided to staff to allow them parking in designated spaces or areas Departmental Permit – provided to Department to allow them to directly control specified parking
  • Contractor Permit –for term of up to 3 months to cover period of on-site work
  • Service Provider Permit – for term of  up to1 year to cover duration of contracted service
  • Visitor Permit – provided to special visitors including where Department make special case for visiting staff

Premises are the buildings, grounds, driveways, parking areas and surrounds within the University’s boundaries or premises under lease by the University

University means the University of Auckland and includes all subsidiaries
