Introducing your Volunteer Alumni Coordinator

William Lockie

Qualification: BCom (Marketing & Management), GDip Com Innovation & Entrepreneurship

Current Role: International Marketing, Life360

A huge foodie, it’s not a surprise that William Lockie is looking forward to bringing our UK alumni community together over a meal. But he is quick to add that it’s not just about the food.

“I really enjoy meeting and learning from others” says William, whose search for learning opportunities led him to join the Spark (now Velocity) organising committee and take out a prize in the $100k Challenge. The experience not only formed some of his best memories of his uni days, but it also resulted in life-long connections. “It was at a recent dinner with Velocity alumni that I was inspired to volunteer as the UK alumni coordinator.”

“I want my event attendees to come away having made new connections – people you might have learnt something from or been inspired by.” William is also keen to help bring together people with similar interests and re-unite past members of UoA clubs by adding some niche events to the UK alumni calendar. “If you were part of a club or organisation at UoA reach out and I’ll see what I can do.”

Following his entrepreneurial spirit, William has worked for a number of high-growth early-stage companies, including meal kit company, Woop, before moving to the UK and taking up his current role in International Marketing for US tech company, Life360.

When asked who he would most like to meet at an event it comes back to good food and good business. “I would love to have dinner with Gordon Ramsay. I am equally inspired by his gastronomic and business success. I
also think he would make for a hilarious evening.” With William’s go-getter attitude – and move to the UK – it just may happen!
