Global Virtual Fun Run for NZ-PH alumni, students & friends

Run, walk, hike, trek or treadmill your way to 5.5km and celebrate the 55th year of NZ-PH diplomatic relations!

In honour of the 55th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between New Zealand and the Philippines, the New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines Peter Kell is holding a global virtual fun run, and the University of Auckland is joining in!

This is an opportunity to engage with your peers, widen your online network and help care for mental and physical well-being whilst commemorating the unique connections between kiwis and Filipinos. There will even be prizes on offer for those completing the most distance and other categories, so don’t miss out on the fun!

  • Who: all NZ alumni & friends based in the Philippines and all our UoA Filipino alumni, friends and students based in Auckland and around the world.
  • When: The NZ-PH Alumni Virtual Fun Run is being run over June 15-29.
  • How: We encourage you to run, walk, hike, trek or treadmill your way to 5.5km for the duration of the period. The minimum is 5.5km, but you are welcome to go up to 55km, 1km for every year of the NZ-PH relationship!

Participating is easy! Just follow these two easy steps:

Step 1: Log your run

Log your kilometres/miles online and take a screenshot when you’ve hit the target! (See suggested apps below.) You can complete your distance on one day or spread out during the run period.

Step 2: Post your screenshot

Post your screenshot and a photo of you in action on the New Zealand Embassy in Manila Facebook Event Page NZ-PH Alumni Virtual Fun Run. Wear some UoA/NZ swag to get into the kiwi spirit! All fun run participants will be posting their progress and photos via the Facebook page.
