Soundtrack to your studies - 2017
Campus sounds from the 2010s.

Orientation took over Albert Park for the three evenings in a row with a dance party, then a chillout event, and finally a line-up of bands put together by 95bFM.

It is amazing to look back to find that two of NZ’s biggest acts played Shadows during that week. Savage had just returned by appearing on the Timmy Trumpet hit ‘Freaks’ and Drax Project had just released the single that would make them worldwide stars, ‘Woke Up Late.’ However, it was a slow-burning viral success. ‘Woke Up Late’ gained fans via Spotify first, before being re-released in a new version with US singer Hailee Steinfeld and with a music video that featured YouTuber Liza Koshy. It was this version that reached the Top 30 of Billboard’s Pop Songs chart in the US.
One of the regular events on the calendar was the yearly Toga Party, where students partied in Roman robes then took over the Auckland Town Hall and danced to the latest hits. Did you go along in your first year?
