Hailed for going “above and beyond to help students succeed”, the Business School has been named inaugural Education Partner of the Year by MYOB.

Each year the business software company recognises leaders in the business advisory and accountancy fields. Education partners have been included in the awards for the first time this year to acknowledge the vital role New Zealand’s tertiary institutions have in developing the industry.

MYOB Education Manager Shailan Patel says the Education Partner of the Year award celebrates an education provider that has been instrumental in advancing career prospects for its students by creating opportunities to interact with the corporate world.

“The Business School particularly impressed the judges with valuable opportunities it offers students to build networks, gain insights into a wide range of careers and equip themselves for the working world,” he says.

“MYOB has had the chance to deliver industry insights through several different interactions – including guest lectures, workshops, involvement in student competitions, office tours, and mentoring.”

Student Development Adviser for the University of Auckland Business School Olivia Flack accepted the award, and said the dedication MYOB had shown in working with the faculty and student organisations is valued in a partner.

“MYOB introduces students to the fintech tidal wave that will impact their working lives,” she says.

“MYOB’s partnership with the University of Auckland Business School helps us provide a transformative experience for our students. It is evident that MYOB shares our passion for enabling, encouraging and celebrating student success.”

Mr Patel believes successful businesses have a responsibility to contribute to the education sector. “By sharing knowledge and resources, the business community can arm the leaders of tomorrow with strong experiences and insights that will stand them in good stead when they begin their careers,” he says.

The awards were held on Coronet Peak in Queenstown at the conclusion of MYOB’s Partner Connect conference. The company has about 1.2 million business customers across Australia and New Zealand, with a suite of software solutions that simplify accounting, payroll, tax, practice management, CRM, job costing, inventory and more.
