Dean elected head of international Corporate Law Teachers Association
19 February 2020
Congratulations to Professor Susan Watson, Acting Dean of the University of Auckland Business School, who has been elected President of the Corporate Law Teachers Association (CLTA) at the organisation’s annual conference held in Melbourne earlier this month.

Formed in 1994, the CLTA represents scholars of corporate law from Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia Pacific region.
Professor Watson’s appointment as President runs for two years and marks the first time the position has been held by a non-Australian.
Professor Watson is an expert on corporate law and governance. She has a particular interest in the corporate form and her research seeks to understand how the form developed, why it is so successful, and the economic and societal impact of corporations. Her research has been published widely in New Zealand and internationally, and she has edited and co-authored treatises and textbooks, five edited collections and numerous articles.
With approximately 200 members, the CLTA's goals include advancing corporate law teaching, research and scholarship; promoting co-operation and exchange of ideas between corporate law scholars in the region; promoting active co-operation between corporate law teachers and universities; promoting co-operation with professional legal associations and law reform agencies; and hosting an annual conference to highlight current developments in corporate law scholarship.
