Members of University of Auckland community honoured at New Year

Distinguished Professor Dame Anne Salmond, DBE, has received the highest recognition in Aotearoa New Zealand’s honour’s system, the Order of New Zealand.
Professor Salmond is a Distinguished Professor of Māori Studies and Anthropology at the University of Auckland. Read more here.
Professor in Biological Sciences and the Prime Minister’s Chief Science Adviser, Juliet Gerrard, has been made a Dame Companion (DNZM) for services to science. Read more here.
Pro-Vice Chancellor, Māori, Professor Cindy Kiro has also been made a Dame Companion for services to child well-being and education. Read more here.
Professor Emeritus Louise Nicholson was awarded a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) for services to neuroscience and education (read here) and distinguished Professor Ian Reid was also recognised in this category for services to medicine (read here).
Professor Shaun Hendy was awarded a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to science. Read more here.
