The return of the study abroad student

Faculty of Engineering welcomes six study abroad students into our classes.

Term two finally saw the opening of the New Zealand borders, which also means the return of the study abroad program. For the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak international exchange students are coming back to the University of Auckland. In August the Faculty of Engineering welcomed six international undergraduate students to study with us.

Five of these students came from the United States and one was from France.
Some hadn’t left their country since the pandemic started, most have not been to New Zealand.

New Zealand’s beaches, hiking trails and the reputation of the University of Auckland were the main reason these students chose to come here for their study abroad year.

One student, Katherine Sakeagak, from the University of Alaska Anchorage in the United States chose UoA because of the similarities between her culture, the Alaskan Native Inupiaq and the Maori.

We welcome these students to our shores and our classrooms. Good luck this term, we wish them the best with their studies.
