Welcoming our off-shore representatives, our links to international students

University of Auckland representatives based in strategic regional markets off-shore will have the opportunity to visit our campuses and meet with key University staff in person since New Zealand’s borders reopened.

Our International Office regional managers and advisers for China, Southeast Asia, South Asia and North America provide vital connections between the University and its international students, past, present and future.

As well as supporting student recruitment, they regularly engage with agents, stakeholders and relevant organisations to build and nurture strategic relationships within their region. The regional representatives visiting next week are:

  • Ashley Monaghan - Regional Manager, North America
  • Rayna Zhang - China Recruitment Specialist
  • Vivi Peng - Senior China Regional Manager
  • Katherine Li - China Manager
  • Vinita Desai - Senior Recruitment Adviser, South Asia
  • Vasudha Hanumanthappa - Recruitment Adviser, South Asia
  • Yoke Yau Wong - Regional Manager, South East Asia

For many of them, next week’s visit is a highlight of many years of working with the University, and a welcome reprieve from Covid-related restrictions only recently lifted in some countries. More importantly, it’s an opportunity to strengthen their New Zealand family ties.

Vasso Koutsos, International Marketing and Recruitment Deputy Director, reflects on this first-of-its-kind initiative for the International Office:

“With our borders reopened and many new colleagues off-shore, it is time to bring our international recruitment team together in Auckland as we remind the world that we are open and looking forward to welcoming international students on campus.

"It isn’t easy to sell a study destination if you have not had the opportunity to visit or experience it yourself. In addition, we are in an exciting transformation in our international marketing and recruitment team, which includes shifting to a regional model and consolidating the international sales function to support our international growth agenda."

Our regional representatives are doing fantastic work and we extend to them our abundant thanks and a warm welcome to Tāmaki Makaurau and Aotearoa.
