Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland, has appointed Wilson Parking to deliver a new parking access and payment system for the Sir Owen G Glenn Buliding (OGGB) carpark at City Campus. The new system will introduce license plate recognition technology to enable a semi-automated parking experience.

Key improvements include:

  • Barrier-free entry process and paperless ticketing
  • Multiple payment options for casual users: both onsite pay station and pay-at-exit with bank card, and the ParkMate app
  • The exit barrier will automatically lift for permit holders or once payment is confirmed for casual parkersThe exit barrier will automatically lift for permit holders or once payment is confirmed for casual parkers

The project, endorsed by University leadership, will commence mid-August 2025, with a target go-live in Quarter One of 2026.

Implementation will involve infrastructure upgrades, the replacement of end-of-life equipment, software configuration and connection through onsite and remote work.

We aim to minimise disruption. Onsite work will be scheduled after hours wherever possible.

Further information for staff is on the project page on the staff intranet.
