Scope of the review
Will the reviewers look at previous cases?
The reviewers may consider information from previous cases to understand how the University’s policies and processes have worked in practice to inform recommendations. However, the review is not a mechanism for re-investigating or determining individual complaints.
Is the review looking at specific allegations or individuals?
No. The review is focused on the University’s policies, processes and systems for preventing, reporting, investigating and responding to sexual harassment concerns relating to the conduct of University staff. It is not a process for making findings about individual allegations or specific people.
Will the review cover concerns about one student’s conduct towards another student?
No. This review focuses on sexual harassment concerns relating to the conduct of University staff. It follows an independent review covering misconduct by students and the adoption of a new Student Conduct Statute which will come into force in early 2027.
What happens to current complaints while the review is underway?
Current concerns and complaints will continue to be handled through the University’s existing processes. As they are out of scope for this review, the review does not replace or pause those processes.

Who can take part?
Current and former staff and students who have information or experiences relevant to the review will be able to participate. More information on how to take part will be shared on the notice page shortly.

Can I make a submission if my experience happened some time ago?
Yes. The reviewers are interested in understanding how policies and processes have worked in practice and may consider information about past experiences as part of that assessment.
How are you ensuring confidentiality?
Personal information shared with the reviewers will remain confidential to the reviewers. It will not be shared with anyone at the University. The final report will not identify individuals or include information that could identify them.
Will taking part reopen a complaint?
No. Taking part in the review will not reopen or re-investigate an individual complaint. The review is focused on assessing the University’s policies, systems and processes and making recommendations for future improvements.
