Discovery Profiles

Use your Discovery Profile to showcase your academic excellence. It is your opportunity to showcase your research, professional, and teaching activities to potential collaborators, future students, and beyond.

Who has a Discovery Profile?

Discovery Profiles is a public directory of academic staff, doctoral candidates and some professional staff at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland. Honorary, emeritus and adjunct academics can also have a public profile.

Service division directors determine which professional, permanent, and fixed-term staff have Discovery Profiles. Professional staff (with their line manager's approval) can request a Discovery Profile via the Staff Service Centre.

What can my Discovery Profile be used for?

Your Discovery Profile contributes to your professional presence online by publicly showcasing your research and teaching activities, advertising supervision opportunities to potential research students and providing your professional information to interested parties, such as potential funders or collaborators. Data from Te Waka Ruia Rangahau, Research Outputs, is also used internally for assessment and reporting purposes.

Your Discovery Profile can be used for:

  • Find collaborators, experts and supervisors. Discovery Profiles make the University's researchers and professional staff discoverable online and show availability for supervision opportunities, collaboration and media enquiries.
  • Making your research open and accessible. When adding your research outputs to your profile, you can deposit copies of your research to comply with the University’s Open Access policy and link directly from your profile's research list to your work.
  • Generating CVs. Your profile's content can be used in three CV styles. For more information, see generate a CV.
  • Reporting. Data collected from the platform is used for management and group reports. These reports are included in assessment, planning and decision-making reviews, such as the Academic Development and Performance Review (ADPR). If you are interested in  reporting functionalities for your group, contact Research Outputs Support and select "Request advice or training."
