Researcher consultancy
A specialist service developing customised digital research solutions for University researchers, delivered by the Centre for eResearch.
The Centre for eResearch provides a specialist service to support researchers by developing bespoke solutions for complex digital research challenges. Our team possesses expertise across a wide variety of digital tools and methods, working alongside researchers to develop customised workflows and software. Our experience ranges from automating repetitive tasks to building comprehensive software packages tailored to specific research needs, such as creating dynamic visualisations of tumour evolution.
This is a fee-based service charged on a time and materials basis at $120/hr.

Our process
Whether you are at the grant-writing stage or mid-way through a research project, we invite you to reach out for an initial discussion about your digital research challenges. We will work with you to determine how we can help by defining the project scope and ensuring we have the right expertise and availability to meet your timeline.
In developing a clear project scope and an indicative cost (based on time and materials), we may undertake a small amount of preliminary feasibility work. During this phase, we will also establish how any resulting software will be licensed. Our default position is to make software openly available, though we can accommodate variations or embargoes if required. Once the scope is agreed upon, we establish an Internal Charging Agreement with the research project.
To ensure we provide the highest value to the University, we generally do not take on projects where the work underpins the learning and research outcomes for a doctoral or other postgraduate programme of study, focuses on basic data wrangling, or requires a significant ongoing maintenance burden. We may direct you to colleagues in other service teams or up-skilling opportunities in these cases.
