SPSS statistics

SPSS is statistical software for generating descriptive statistics, regression models, multivariate analyses, and creating plots and tables.

What is SPSS?

SPSS is a software suite for statistical analyses including generating descriptive statistics, running regression models, performing multivariate analyses, and creating publication-quality plots and tables. Commands can be executed either through a graphical drop-down menu system or through command syntax. SPSS is available for both Windows and MacOS, and features include:

  • Easy to learn for beginners
  • Syntax adds flexibility, customisation and automation options
  • Caters to more advanced needs (high end multivariate analysis, neural networks, conjoint analysis) through its add-on modules

Install SPSS

SPSS can be installed on University machines via the Software Center (on Windows) or Self Service (on Mac).

SPSS can be installed by University staff and postgraduate students on a personal machine for working at home. Go to: Buy SPSS for University of Auckland and sign in via Single Sign On with your University credentials.

SPSS Amos

SPSS Amos is a structural equation modeling software application available for Windows machines.

Licence

The University has a site licence for SPSS on University computers in select faculties. The licence is renewed annually. New codes accompany each renewal requiring annual licence updates. Your faculty IT team can assit with this.

Cost: Free for University staff and postgraduate students when installed on University machines.
