Infinity X booking and billing tool
Infinity X is the University’s booking and billing tool for research instruments and services. It can be accessed by staff, students and external clients.
On this page:
Uses
Infinity X can be used to:
- Book instruments, request services or quotes, and register for Platform training online
- Discover research platforms and their services across the University
- Manage bookings on the go with the Infinity X app
Infinity X is currently being rolled out across the University's research platforms. For information and updates on this project, see Enterprise booking and billing project.
Access to Infinity X
How you access Infinity X depends on your affiliation:
- University of Auckland staff and students: Log in using your University username and password (Single Sign-On).
- External clients: Use the credentials you were given when you registered in the system; new clients should contact platform staff directly for assistance to register.
If you're currently a user of a research platform that is not yet using Infinity X, you’ll be notified by platform staff before moving to Infinity X, with instructions on how to get started.
Using Infinity X
How Infinity X works
Infinity X works by associating each user (including University of Auckland staff and students, as well as external clients) with a research group.
Each research group must have an administrator - normally the principal investigator (PI) or supervisor who has authority over project funds (including PReSS accounts) and who manages the research group. Within the system, an administrator is responsible for activating the research group and granting access to project budgets to group members. This role can be delegated.
Note:
- Estimated costs are shown when making a booking – these may be subject to change depending on cancellation charges or other policies which are set by each platform. Policies can be viewed within Infinity X when you make a reservation.
- You will only be charged once the final costs are confirmed and the work is completed.
- Platform services vary, and the reservation process will likewise vary between platforms.
- External clients: Payments can be made through a purchase order or a "bill later" option. All external clients must also be an approved University customer. Contact a platform team to get set up for billing.
Training and support
Training and guidance
Personalised drop-in sessions will be offered as each platform begins using the tool.
You can access guides and videos at Infinity X training and support (SharePoint).
For personalised support: contact your platform team or email researchplatforms@auckland.ac.nz.
Research platform services and support
Each research platform team is available to help researchers use Infinity X and platform services. The team will approve access to the platform within Infinity X.
External clients: Platform teams can help you set up your billing. They can also create a temporary research group, so you can start a project if you are waiting for a University customer account to be created.
For platform teams' contact details, go to the relevant platform page.
