Academic Standing - Readmission

Students terminated from University of Auckland study may apply for readmission through this process

If you have been terminated from your University of Auckland programme due to Academic Standing, and you want to return to study at the University of Auckland, you must apply to be readmitted to your studies through the Academic Standing Readmission process.

Please do not apply to study through the standard University of Auckland application portal.

Please note

  • Students who had their programme discontinued for reasons other than termination for poor Academic Standing are not eligible to apply through the Academic Standing Readmission process.

Before you apply to be readmitted

There are criteria you need to meet before you can seek readmission to the University due to Academic Standing.

You must

  1. Have been discontinued from a University of Auckland programme as a result of having your enrolment terminated.
  2. Have waited at least one year before applying to be readmitted to study.

Applying to be readmitted

Please note that you must not apply to study through the standard application portal, you must apply using the Academic Standing readmission form linked below.

Once you feel ready to return to study, you will need to complete the Academic Standing Readmission Form.

So that we have enough time to review your application, you must complete this form at least four weeks before the beginning of the semester you want to return to study in.

Otherwise, your submission will be considered for entry into the next available semester.

To check when semesters start, you can refer to our Important dates page.

What comes after applying to be readmitted

Your completed Academic Standing Readmission form will go to the Faculty that owns the degree you have expressed interest in wishing to study.

While assessing your application, the Faculty may reach out to you via email for more information and/or schedule an interview. Once the Faculty has reached a decision, you will be notified by email.

Whether the outcome of your application is to be readmitted or declined, the Faculty will provide specific guidance on how to progress based on your circumstances.

Being offered readmission

In your email, the Faculty will give you a deadline to accept or decline an offer of readmission to study.

This is so you can review the conditions of this offer, as well as other information provided to you within their email.

These conditions are put in place to ensure that you have the best chance of excelling moving forward.

These conditions can include, but are not limited to

  • Regular meetings to check progress
  • Course restrictions
  • GPA restrictions/elements

Accepting the offer to be readmitted

Once you have reviewed the Faculty's offer and condition(s), you can accept by replying to their email. Your Faculty will then work with you to facilitate your place in the programme, and confirm when you can start enrolling.

It is expected that your Faculty will recommend what course(s) you need to enrol into first in order to align with the condition(s) of your readmission.
