All you need to know about moving your files to your University of Auckland OneDrive

Moving from Google Drive

The University needs to shrink it's usage of Google Drive drastically. From 1st October 2023 there will be a 1GB quota for Google Drive and Photos. If you leave the University then there is no ongoing storage allocation in Google for you.

Moving from your University Home Drive

Important

  • Note that if you close down your computer or lose connection to the University that the copy process will stop and need to be restarted
  • If you are not on-campus you will need to be VPN connected to access your home drive remotely

MS Windows

  1.  Make sure that you have OneDrive setup already on your computer - you should see OneDrive - The University of Auckland listed when you open your list of files and folders
  2.  Your home drive will normally be listed as H:
  3.  We recommend that you copy the files, check a few on OneDrive to make sure it has been successful and then delete them from your home drive

Apple Mac

  1. Make sure that you have OneDrive setup already on your computer - you should see OneDrive - The University of Auckland listed when you open your list of files and folders in Finder
  2. Your home drive will normally be listed as \\files.auckland.ac.nz\myhome
  3. We recommend that you copy the files, check a few on OneDrive to make sure it has been successful and then delete them from your home drive
