Secondary school-level transcripts
Explanation of document
A secondary school or high school transcript is a document produced and certified by your secondary school, examination board or other secondary authority.
Your official transcript lists the complete studies and grades you have achieved toward your secondary qualification.
Why this document is required
Completed in New Zealand
If you have completed NCEA, Cambridge International, or IB in New Zealand, you do not need to give a copy of your transcript as part of your application. We will be able to directly access your results when they're released.
All other New Zealand secondary qualifications will need to provide official transcripts of results within their application.
For more information, please see New Zealand secondary school applicants.
Completed overseas
If you have studied at a secondary school level overseas, you will need to provide a secondary school transcript for assessment.
You may be asked for predicted grades if you are yet to finish the qualification.
To see entry requirements to the University for specific countries, please see Overseas secondary school applicants.
Where to submit your document
It is important that you submit your academic transcripts as soon as possible. This is because some programmes have limited spaces.
All prior secondary and foundation-level study must be declared in your application.
Your certificate can be uploaded into your application portal. Please combine each transcript as a single PDF file, if you have more than one transcript.
You will need to upload an official academic transcript of your secondary shool study as soon as you have received your final grades. This can be
- Final official secondary school document
- Official diploma received
- Test results, e.g. SAT
Is certification required?
As your official transcript is given to you by your prior secondary institution or examination authority, you usually do not need to get your transcript certified.
Please note, a certified hard copy of your transcript(s) may be required in future, for auditing purposes.
Is translation required?
If your document is in a language other than English, you must provide the original language version and the English translation. The translations must be prepared and certified by an acceptable translation service.
For more information, please see Translation of documents for admissions.
What are your next steps?
If you uploaded a PDF copy of your transcript, the status of your transcript will show as 'Received.'
The University of Auckland is familiar with overseas secondary school education systems. We assess all qualifications on a case-by-case basis.
For more information, please see Overseas secondary school applicants.
If we require anything else for your application, we will let you know by email. The relevant transcript item status will become 'More information needed' and we will say why it's needed.
You can then provide additional documents online through your application portal.
Please be assured that your application is a priority to us. Delays may occur for the following reasons
- It's our peak processing time
- You applied for a future semester
