"I chose to study at the University of Auckland, since it is an internationally accredited university. I love learning about different cultures, places and people and being here in New Zealand has been an invaluable experience."

What aspects of your programme do you enjoy most or value most?

"I truly love the people, lecturers and fellow students in my programme. They are all so kind and helpful, and I’ve made some great friends and connections from my classes."

What can you say about your experience as a UoA international student so far?

"Being an international student has come with challenges to be truthful. But having good friends and support staff has made the transition as an international student much easier and manageable.

For a student of Anthropology, every new place I go and every culture I find myself in eventually becomes a part of me. And I was happy to take a part of New Zealand back home with me."

What do you enjoy most about living in Auckland?

"I do love the convenience of things close by like shops, restaurants and other businesses. It makes it easier to find a job here in the city."

What surprised you most about life in New Zealand?

"I really love how people are more laid back than in the States. It seems like a very chill and relaxed atmosphere. I also was truly surprised by the variety of birds in New Zealand, there are so many I have never seen before."

What is something you tried for the first time since arriving?

"Feijoas! A fruit commonly found in New Zealand with a very interesting flavour."

Have you had any unique experiences at the University or New Zealand?

"I did go on my first road trip with my friends from school and that was pretty amazing. We went all the way to Cape Reinga and were so moved by the amazing views."
