The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a world-wide organisation supporting the interests of the Petroleum industry. SPE’s mission is to provide the means to collect, disseminate, and exchange technical information concerning the development of oil and gas resources, subsurface fluid flow, and production of other materials through well-bores for the public benefit; and to provide opportunities through its programmes for interested (and qualified) individuals to maintain and upgrade their individual technical competence in these areas.The specific goals of offering the scholarship are to:a) promote student interest in the application of engineering principles to the ongoing development of the oil and gas industry.b) provide an awareness of the petroleum industry in New Zealand.c) to encourage students to seek career opportunities in New Zealand within the Oil and Gas industry.
