Generous guaranteed scholarships for high-achieving research postgraduate students

The University of Auckland is committed to ensuring the very best students are able to study with us. We offer guaranteed scholarships to high-achieving postgraduate research students.

Our postgraduate scholarships are some of the most generous on offer in New Zealand and we continue to grow the number of postgraduate scholarships available.

How to apply

Apply for admission to your postgraduate programme of choice, and the University will consider your eligibility for a scholarship at the same time.

Because you apply for the scholarship and the programme together, there are no separate closing dates. You just need to meet the closing date for admission to your chosen postgraduate programme.

Eligibility

This is a general guide to the guaranteed scholarships. You should check the regulations for the specific scholarship you are interested in.

Postgraduate honours, postgraduate diplomas and masters

We offer guaranteed scholarships to New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents enrolling in eligible postgraduate honours, postgraduate diploma or research masters programmes who meet grade point average (GPA) thresholds from their qualifying programme.

If you are starting your programme in Semester One 2024, and think you might be eligible but haven't heard anything yet, you must contact the Scholarships Office by the end of Week 4 of Semester One to be considered for a Scholarship.
