Setting up new scholarships and prizes

Find out how you can set up a new scholarship, prize or award.

Potential donors who wish to establish scholarships and prizes should first select an area to support. These categories include specific scholarship funds you can support, and the contact details of the Development Manager for each Faculty or Research Institute.

If you would like someone to contact you directly to discuss setting up a scholarship, prize or award, email: scholarships@auckland.ac.nz.

Suggested minimum values are as follows:

  • $1,000 for prizes
  • $5,000 for scholarships
  • $10,000+ for scholarships where selection includes an interview

Step 1

Draft regulations will be developed, which will be provided to the donor and relevant faculties for review and consultation.

Step 2

The draft regulations will proceed to the Scholarships Committee (SC) for approval. These meetings are held on a weekly basis.

Step 3

Once approved by the SC, regulations will proceed to the Board of Graduate Studies and then to the Education Committee for final approval. These meetings are held every second month.

Step 4

Once approved by the Education Committee, regulations will be formatted and placed on the Scholarships website under Find a scholarship or award.
