Competition terms and conditions

The University’s Standard Competition Terms and Conditions, together with the Competition Details below, form the Terms and Conditions for this Competition. If there are any inconsistencies between these Competition Details and the University's Standard Competition Terms, these Competition Details will override.

Competition Details

Competition name:	Win with UOA
Competition Dates:	The Competition starts on 02/03/2026 and ends on 18/05/2026.
Entry Instructions:	To enter the Competition, entrants must complete the University's online form (accessible via the QR code provided by the University) and select the opt-in checkbox indicating their wish to enter the Competition, on or before 5:00pm on 18 May 2026.
Maximum entries per person:	1
Entry Criteria	Entry is only open to year 13 school leavers in New Zealand above the age of 15, with three distinct prize pools: Year 13 school leavers in Auckland Year 13 school leavers in Wellington Year 13 school leavers in all other regions other than Auckland and Wellington
Prize Draw or Determination Date:	Two prize winners, per prize pool, will be drawn at random from all eligible entries on a weekly basis from 02/03/2026 until 18/05/2026. Each weekly draw will be conducted from all eligible entries received up to that point. This means that each eligible entrant will remain in the draw pool for each weekly draw unless they are selected as a prize winner, or until the final draw is conducted.
Determination of prize winners:	Each prize winner will be determined by a random prize draw. All eligible entries will be entered into a randomised selection tool with separate draws conducted for each of the three prize pools set out above.If the University is unable to contact a prize winner within 48 hours of the initial contact attempt, the University reserves the right to select an alternative prize winner, via another round of a random prize draw, and the original winner will forfeit the prize. Prize winners will need to meet the Entry Criteria set out above to claim a prize. For Hiwa membership prizes, winners must be based in Auckland and agree to Hiwa's Membership Agreement which can be found here: Membership Agreement – University of Auckland For flight prizes, prize winners must be based outside of Auckland and sign and return to the University the required parental permissions notified to them by the University.
Prize(s):	The prizes, for each prize pool, are outlined below: Auckland-based prize winners will receive a 30-day membership pass to the University's recreation facility Hiwa, valued at $120.00. The 30-day membership pass will be activated from the date the pass is issued to the prize winner by the University. All other prize winners, including Wellington-based prize winners, will receive a sponsored return flight, for the prize winner only, to Auckland for the day on the 29 August 2026, to attend the University of Auckland’s Mānawa Mai Open Day. The prize covers the cost of return flights, valued at approximately $200.00 - $500.00 per one-way flight depending on location and time of purchase. The University will book the flights for the prize winner from their nearest airport to Auckland Airport, and from Auckland Airport back to their nearest airport. The University is not responsible for flight delays, cancellations, schedule changes, additional baggage fees, seat selection fees, travel insurance, or any other ancillary costs. The prize does not include transportation to and from airports or spending money. The prize does not include accommodation or flights for anyone accompanying the prize winner. If same-day return flights are not available for 29 August 2026, the prize winner will receive University of Auckland merchandise, valued at up to $250 (shipped to the prize winner at the University's cost).

Standard competition terms and conditions

These terms, together with any entry information and/or additional terms and conditions specified by the University of Auckland (Terms) apply to each competition (Competition) where the University of Auckland (University) states that its standard competition terms apply. These Terms are a contract between each entrant (you) and the University.

Term: The Competition starts and finishes on the dates specified by the University at the time of entry. If your entry is received outside of this period you may be disqualified.
Prize: The prize(s) for the Competition (Prize) are not transferable or redeemable for cash and all components of the prizes must be taken together. Some or all components of the prizes may be subject to availability, as well as additional terms and conditions set by third parties. Prize winners are responsible for arranging and paying for all costs associated with the prize that are not explicitly stated by the University at the time of entry. The University may replace the prize with another prize of equivalent or greater value if the prize becomes unavailable for reasons outside the University's reasonable control. Where the prize is to be delivered to the winner, the prize must be delivered to a New Zealand address. The University makes no warranties about the prize (including as to its quality or fitness for purpose).
Who may enter: To enter the Competition, you must meet any entry criteria specified by the University, and comply with these Terms.
How to enter: If you do not follow the entry instructions specified by the University and otherwise comply with these Terms, you may be disqualified. Incomplete entries may not be accepted. Generally, entries may not be modified after submission.
Number of entries: Unless otherwise specified, you may only enter the Competition once.
Winner: Unless otherwise specified, the winner(s) of the prize will be drawn randomly from one prize pool comprising all valid entries on the date specified by the University at the time of entry. Where there are multiple prizes, entrants will not win more than one prize. Where the winner is not determined by a random draw, all judging decisions are made at the University's sole discretion.
Contacting the winner: The winner of the Competition will be announced after determination. The University will take reasonable steps to contact the winner by using the contact details provided at the time of entry. If the University cannot contact a winner within one week after the winner is announced or if the winner is otherwise unable to accept the prize, then the winner will forfeit the prize and the University may select a new winner.
Entries: All entries received by the University and any materials submitted with the entry (Materials) will become the property of the University. By entering the Competition you consent to the University copying, reproducing, altering, communicating to the public and otherwise using your entry and any Materials all media, whether known now or developed in the future, in relation to the Competition, or to advertise and promote the University (including by publishing your entry and or the Materials, or parts of them, on the University's websites). In addition, by entering the Competition, you agree that the University may use your name, photograph for promotional purposes without compensation.
Privacy: The University may collect and use personal information about you (including your name, contact details, and any other personal information you provide in connection with your entry) for the purpose of administering the Competition, verifying the validity of entries, contacting winners and checking winners' identities, and marketing the goods and services of the University to you. As certain information is required for us to run the Competition effectively, if you do not provide accurate information where we request, you may be disqualified from the Competition. The University will collect, use and hold your information in accordance with our legal obligations, including under the Privacy Act 2020. In order to request access to or correction of your personal information please contact the University Privacy Officer at privacy@auckland.ac.nz.
Liability: Subject to any applicable law that cannot be excluded, the University and its employees and agents will not be liable for any loss or damage (whether in contract, tort (including negligence), under statute, equity or otherwise in connection with the Competition or the prize(s)). Without limiting the previous sentence, the University is not responsible for any late, misdirected or incorrectly completed entries, or any technical malfunction, delay or loss of data that occurs in the course of the administration of the Competition, however caused.
Facebook: Where the Competition is run via Facebook, the Competition is not associated with Facebook, Facebook has no liability in connection with the Competition, and any information you provide in connection with the Competition is provided to the University, not to Facebook.
General: The University's decisions regarding the Competition are final and no correspondence will be entered into. The University may change these Terms at any time. If the University cannot reasonably run the Competition as planned for any reason, the University may cancel this Competition.
