What is Alumni Connect?

Alumni Connect is an online informal mentoring tool.  It connects University of Auckland students seeking career advice, with alumni (graduates) who are willing to share their experience and expertise.  

Who can use Alumni Connect?

Currently, all University of Auckland students, alumni and staff can use Alumni Connect.  If you’ve graduated from the University, you’re one of our alumni.

How do I sign up?

Use the ‘join now’ button below.  You’ll need a University ID to log in.  

I don’t know my University ID / password

If you can’t remember your ID – you can get in touch with our call centre who should be able to help.  You can request help online here (select ‘alumni’ as your student type) or give the call centre a ring on 0800 61 62 65

You could also try using an email address you think we may have on file for you, instead of your ID.

If you can’t remember your password, you can reset it by clicking the ‘I’ve forgotten my password’ link on the University log in page.

How much time do I need to dedicate to this?

Alumni Connect offers ‘flash’ mentoring.  It’s quick, easy and informal.  By getting involved, you’re not committing to a structured mentoring programme. You’re just making connections to people who want help or can offer it.  What’s more, you’re in control of how much time you dedicate to this. It can be as little as a one-off, half hour conversation – and even that can make a huge difference.

What can I expect from the sign-up process?

It’s simple and quick.  There’s no lengthy profile to create, just a few steps to take to provide enough information to match you with the right alumni.  If you want to build your profile after sign up – you can pull in information from LinkedIn.

I’ve signed up as an alumni mentor, but no students have been in touch.

More and more students are joining the platform each month.  We really appreciate the time you’ve taken to get involved and would expect someone to request help soon. It’s worth checking your spam folder to see if any messages have got lost in there.

I’m experiencing a technical issue with the platform.

When you’re logged in to Alumni Connect, you can click on the question mark in the bottom right of the screen to get technical help.

How do I report inappropriate conduct?

Click the red “Report User” triangle button in your inbox tab while in the message thread with the person in question.  You can also contact us at alumni-connect@am.auckland.ac.nz

What devices/browsers support video chat?

Video chat is supported on most modern browsers and operating systems. Recommended versions for use are: Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
