These mischievous little characters have taken the globe by storm, appearing on celebrity Instagram stories, street style photos, and everywhere fans are showing them off. The intensity of the craze is exactly why University of Auckland researchers are studying the phenomenon. Dr ‘Illaisaane (Nane) Fifita from the Department of Marketing explains that the trend taps into “the joy of seeking, finding, and sharing symbolic objects” and shows how “modern communities build meaning together.”
With their playful charm, limited edition drops, and the thrill of blind boxes (where you don’t know which character you’ll get until you open it), Labubus are the ultimate bit of fun to wrap up 2025.
