We’re excited to announce that Te Herenga Mātauranga Whānui | General Library Levels 1 and M are open! With plenty of group and casual seating, group study spaces, a dedicated ReoSpace and a brand-new Accessible Lounge, the refurbished spaces provide great new Library study options.
What’s on the newly refurbished Level M?
- Lots of group and casual seating options
- Group study spaces that will become bookable later in the semester. Meanwhile, you are welcome to use the study rooms for collaborative work – on a first-come, first-served basis
- A new Accessible Lounge with upgraded facilities
- The Junior Collection
What’s on the newly refurbished Level 1?
- Multipurpose teaching space designed for pop-up teaching and support sessions. The Learning Lab will be available to academic staff as well as Te Tumu Herenga staff and can accommodate around 35 students.
- Beautiful new homes for Mātauranga Māori and the Pacific Collection. These will also include the Māori and Pacific Junior Collection from the Sylvia Ashton-Warner Library at Epsom. (the collections will be moving onto Level 1 from 3 April 2024)
- ReoSpace – a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space where staff and students can practise te reo Māori. (ReoSpace will launch later in the year)
- Bookable group study spaces and casual seating.
How do I access Mātauranga Māori and the Pacific Collection?
Over the next few weeks The Pacific Collection will be moving from Level 3 to its final home on Level 1. Mātauranga Māori will be moving from Level 4 to its final home on Level 1.
- You will have continuous access to both collections during the move.
- If you can’t find an item you are looking for, check both its old and new location or ask our friendly Student Hubs staff at the Level G Help Desk.
When will I be able to book a group study space?
- The group study space booking system will come online later in the semester. Until then, you are welcome to use the spaces for collaborative study, on a first-come, first-served basis.
