Our Summer staff work closely with the Accommodation team over the busy summer accommodation season by applying to be a Summer Assistant or Senior Resident.

Kaiāwhina Raumati | Summer Assistants

Our Kaiāwhina Raumati | Summer Assistants work 15 hours a week with an hourly salary of $24.80. 

Reporting to a Poutaki Wharenoho | Resident Manager, our Summer Assistants will work in the evenings and weekends. Summer Assistants will live onsite and be ready to assist when on their rostered shifts.  

This paid position is suited to individuals who wish to commit themselves to a challenging and rewarding employment opportunity over the summer period. This position does have the flexibility for students who are attending summer school, or have other casual employment in Auckland over summer. 

Summer Assistants will be required to work over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. They will also need to be available for work in the evening after 5pm, weekdays and on weekends. The contract period for this role is November 2023 - end of February 2024. 

Kainoho Matua | Senior Resident

Our Kainoho Matua | Senior Resident work 5 hours a week with an hourly salary of $24.80. 

This fixed term, part-time role is designed to connect, support and engage with our residents that will be here over summer. This role is key in ensuring that we continue to deliver excellent pastoral care over the summer months.

Reporting to a Poutaki Wharenoho | Resident Manager, Senior Residents work flexible hours to engage residents, support events and refer residents to the most appropriate service. Successful candidates will need to commit to the position for the entire duration of the contract and be available for work in the evenings, weekends and public holidays.

This paid position has the flexibility for students who are attending summer school or have other casual employment in Auckland over summer. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in gaining some customer care, events and pastoral care experience, and still having the flexibility to enjoy other summer pursuits.

Summer Residents will be rostered on-duty and on-call overnight for summer residences and conference guests. They will also need to be available for flexible working hours during weekdays, weekends and public holidays. 

Kaimahi Herekore | Casual staff

Accommodation often employs a team of casual summer workers to assist with logistical tasks related to the set-up of summer accommodation and preparation for the incoming academic year.

These positions are casual paid positions with staff on a timesheet and report to the Accommodation Operations team.

We recruit our summer staff from September to October before each summer season.
