REANNZ HPC facilities are available for postgraduate research students, researchers, teaching and instruction, and commercial research and development. The platform was previously administered by the New Zealand eScience Infrastructure (NeSI) before being integrated into REANNZ in 2025.
Access
Access is typically free for University of Auckland users. You will need to apply for an account.
High Performance Computing platform
- Access to high performance CPUs, specialised GPUs, and high memory nodes
- Interactive access to Jupyter Notebooks, containers, and virtual lab environments
- A library of existing software ready to use
- Support to get data on and off the platform
Benefits
- Supports intensive compute tasks which would otherwise take too long on local or virtual machines
- Workflows can be developed on a subset of data locally, then scaled up when needed
- Jobs are scheduled and run until complete allowing flexibility and advance planning
- To support reanalysis, large datasets can be stored in Freezer long term storage
Help
- Apply for access to the HPC platform
- Ask a REANNZ expert about HPC during a weekly online office hour
- Consult the HPC support documentation
- View REANNZ training
