Amendment request process
Approved users who require changes to their approval will need to submit an amendment request to the UABSC. Such changes could include adding new hosts or changing the scope of gene inserts. Minor amendments may not require full committee review.
Researchers who are unsure if amendments still fall within the scope of the University-wide low-risk HSNO approval should, in the first instance, contact the biological safety officer.
How to submit a request
- Send a request to the UABSC administrator to unlock your approved user form. This can be done by using the 'Correspondence' function in Ethics RM (follow the steps in the ‘Submit a request for the application to be unlocked’ section of the BSC – amendment request user guide.
- Submit the amendment following the steps in the BSC – amendment request user guide.
- Approved users will be sent a letter outlining the boundaries of their amended approval within the University-wide low-risk HSNO approval. It is the PI’s responsibility to ensure that all low-risk GMO development falls within the scope of their specific approval.
Renewal request process
Approved user status will be granted for up to three years, after which principal investigators must apply for renewal.
Renewal applicants will only be required to outline any changes to their existing approval. Renewals that contain only minor changes will not require full committee review.
Requests for renewal must be submitted in the Ethics RM software using the amendment request process.
