Postgraduate students

The Career Development and Employability Services (CDES) team is here to help all postgraduate students (including doctoral candidates).

We offer tailored events, workshops, resources, and advice to help you transition from postgraduate and doctoral studies into the world of work, whether you're aiming for a role in academia, research, entrepreneurship, consultancy, government, or the private sector.

On this page, we have listed some of the tailored events and resources that we have created for postgraduate students.

You can find an overview of our general services (which are available to you and you may find useful) on our 'How we support you' webpage. This includes links to our Canvas modules (where you can learn about CVs, cover letters, and interview preparation), and information about accessing our drop-in sessions and booking one to one appointments with our career consultants.

Career events for postgraduate students

We warmly welcome you to attend any of our workshops, recruitment events or career expos, which you will find listed on our Events webpage.

We also offer tailored workshops and events for postgraduate students, which we are currently reviewing for 2025. To get a taste of what you can expect, take a look at the series we ran for postgraduate students in 2024: 'Career Development for Doctoral Candidates'.
