Summer Programmes
Interested in a two to four-week programme during the New Zealand summer? Below are partially-funded opportunities that will broaden your horizons, make an impact and sharpen your global citizenship skills.

The 360 International Short-Term Learning Abroad Fund has partial funding available to support a limited number of students. In addition, up to 25 Māori & Pacific students selected for participation with a University-subsidized space in programmes listed below may also benefit from a generous Air New Zealand travel grant that will cover the cost of (economy) airfare between Auckland and the programme destination. Think Pacific
Youth Empowerment Project (Fiji)
January 15 to 30, 2026
Live in a traditional village, become a member of a Fijian family and work alongside Fijian youth groups (aged 18-35) as you explore local and global issues together. Develop cross-cultural skills and discuss solutions to achieve key aspects of Fiji’s National Development Plan and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Global Team Internship (Fiji)
January 12 to 27, 2026
This 16-day Global Team Internship (GTI) has been designed to help you bridge the gap between university and graduate employment in a globalized workforce by combining unique work-experience with cultural immersion and a team-based adventure. During the placement, you will live with a team of fellow students in your own lovely, serviced house at the hub of the South Pacific and Fiji’s capital, Suva – whilst supporting our hand-picked network of Fijian NGO’s, social enterprises and charities to develop practical and sustainable solutions to current challenges. Education and Teaching Programme (Bali)
January 12 to February 08, 2026
Join a team, live together in a Balinese community and immerse yourself in this one-month project, aimed at increasing English development and empowerment. Each day you will work in small groups to support and supplement English language learning across a range of early years, school and community settings. HEX International
Global Internship in Bangkok (Thailand)
November 22 to December 06, 2025
Bring your business idea to the global stage. Over two weeks, you’ll join an impressive cohort of founders to learn from business, social impact and innovation leaders, and work hands-on in the design-driven Bangkok start-up environment. The programme includes over 30 workshops across 2 weeks, and is open to students of any discipline and background with an interest in technology, entrepreneurship, innovation and start-ups. Global Sustainable Development Innovation for the Future (Thailand)
December 01 to December 11, 2025
This carbon-neutral program explores sustainable development
initiatives in Thailand aimed at improving people’s lives and reducing carbon
emissions with a unique focus on Thai Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP). You’ll learn from communities and experts about responsible tourism and sustainable ways of living that can be incorporated in daily life. These methods, rooted in SEP, are aimed at improving people’s quality of life and are directly aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC Chile)
Intercultural Approaches for Public Health
January 05 to January 30, 2026
The initiative offers conceptual and empirical elements of social sciences to place health-disease processes in a complex sociocultural environment. It provides a varied vision of medicine and its history, considering different medical systems and going deeply into traditional Mapuche and Aymara medicine and its worldview. Both tensions and exchanges between globalization processes and local identities are analyzed along with the presentation of the intercultural approach as an analytical perspective and practical strategy in the health systems. To apply for a participation in a partially-funded programme, please be sure to apply to 360 International through the University's learning abroad portal. If selected for funding, you will be advised on the next steps to apply to the programme provider or host institution following your nomination.
Students who do not receive an Air New Zealand travel grant as part of their funding package are responsible for the cost and arrangements of international airfare. All students will be responsible for passport, visa, and other personal expenses, including any required immunizations and medical checks required for travel, and meals where not included in the programme schedule.
