Postgraduate study in Jazz

What can you study in Jazz at a postgraduate level?

At honours level, you will develop your own creative process and individual style. There is a strong focus on developing advanced improvisational techniques, strengthening your arrangement and composition techniques. Your understanding of the creative practice component of a musician’s life will be enriched by exploration of academic topics in a range of areas.

The Master of Music degree takes this approach to a high level, where you'll be able to study performance or studio pedagogy. Your research will culminate in the submission of a portfolio consisting of creative practice work. You will be guided towards independent research and study capability through a close mentoring relationship with experienced academics.
