Programme overview
Develop advanced knowledge, skills, awareness and critical reflection to underpin effective supervision within your work context. As a working professional with at least three years’ experience in your field of practice, you will have the opportunity to learn and reflect alongside course colleagues from a broad range of social care and allied health professions. In this way, you will enhance your clinical and professional supervision skills. You will be required to develop and successfully complete an independent piece of research within the area of supervision and professional practice.
Professional Supervision is a significant cornerstone of learning, critical reflection and transformative practice. Throughout the programme, you will examine the role of professional supervision. You will critically analyse and integrate theoretical perspectives, contemporary literature, policy and practice to grow your knowledge, skills and confidence in supervision within your own professional and organisational context.
Programme structure
This 180-point programme, with research and taught options available, is delivered through face-to-face block courses at the City Campus and online. It comprises either two 30-point core courses, one 30-point elective and a 90-point thesis, or two 30-point core courses, 60 points of electives and a 60-point dissertation.

Where could this programme take you?
Master of Professional Supervision graduates will have mastery of theories, models, skills and interventions in professional supervision, as well as advanced knowledge of the scholarship of the field. They will have a demonstrated ability to engage in independent research in the field, that synthesises appropriate theory, research methodology and methods, and analysis of data.
