Excel Essentials

The flexibility and ease with which you can harness the power of Excel will have you in demand for your expertise.

This workshop aims to build on your existing data entry, formula writing and formatting skills by including complex worksheet functions, to take your spreadsheet building to a new level. It also looks at ways to manage data, including using tables effectively, hiding or grouping rows and columns, and conditional formatting.

Please note this is an intermediate level workshop and it is strongly
recommended
that you complete the prerequisite online learning courses listed below before attending this workshop.

Key content

  • Using absolute, mixed and relative cell references in formulas
  • Creating and using names in a workbook
  • Using conditional formatting to highlight cells and patterns
  • Hiding and grouping data
  • Using Tables to format, calculate and summarise data effectively
  • Summaries using simple worksheet functions eg SUMIF and COUNTIF

  • Advance your understanding of spreadsheet calculation
  • Understand the importance of tables for data storage
  • Utilise some more advanced data management features

This is an intermediate level workshop which is suitable for those who have completed the prerequisite or who are competent with the topics covered in that workshop. Before registering for this workshop, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are competent with the topics covered in the prerequisite workshop.

Notes

PC and Mac computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you require a Mac, please contact us so that we can make the necessary arrangements. Excel 2016 is used. Also suitable for 2013 users.
