Learning and teaching workstream

Workstream two of the Disability Action Plan focuses on learning and teaching and how staff will achieve good practice. The Director of Learning and Teaching is responsible for this workstream. Below are the strategic focus areas for this workstream, along with a summary of key deliverables as at June 2026.

Accessible online learning environments
Completed:
- Phased approach of introduction of Canvas Baseline Practices has currently reached stage 0, 1, 2, and 6 courses across the University.
- Law and Science have also completed Stage 3 courses.
In progress:
- All Canvas courses will achieve a minimum standard by Quarter 1, 2027.
- Proactively check in with Faculty (Stage 3 and Stage 7) with a view to disseminating and increasing awareness of good practice.
Monitoring and reporting
Completed:
- Trial and establish course audit cycle with faculties in Quarter 2, 2025, in
conjunction with staff from the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Equity
(OPVCE).
Ongoing:
- Continue established audit cycle on a semesterly basis.
Resources for teaching staff
Ongoing:
- Self-directed, digital professional learning resources are available on TeachWell Digital.
Data-informed enhancements
Ongoing:
- Accessibility errors identified in UDOIT audits of Canvas courses will be used to identify emerging, institution-wide professional learning needs.
