Terms of reference

To establish and review the University’s doctoral and doctoral-adjacent policies.
To make recommendations to Academic Programmes Committee on all proposals for new doctoral programmes and subjects, and on major changes to existing doctorates.
To make recommendations to Education Committee on matters pertaining to policies of relevance to doctoral programmes.
To monitor and report on the University’s doctoral programmes and portfolio of doctoral research activity.
To establish, monitor, and review Joint Graduate Schools.
To establish and review provision of doctoral researcher development.
To establish and review doctoral supervisor development offerings and accreditation requirements.
Provide advice to the Vice Chancellor, or delegate, where requested, on academic matters related to University and all other doctoral scholarships.
To recommend on the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize for Best Doctoral Thesis.
