Terms of reference

  • To establish and review the University’s doctoral and doctoral-adjacent policies.
  • To make recommendations to Academic Programmes Committee on all proposals for new doctoral programmes and subjects, and on major changes to existing doctorates.
  •  To make recommendations to Education Committee on matters pertaining to policies of relevance to doctoral programmes.
  • To monitor and report on the University’s doctoral programmes and portfolio of doctoral research activity.
  • To establish, monitor, and review Joint Graduate Schools.
  • To establish and review provision of doctoral researcher development.
  • To establish and review doctoral supervisor development offerings and accreditation requirements.
  • Provide advice to the Vice Chancellor, or delegate, where requested, on academic matters related to University and all other doctoral scholarships.
  • To recommend on the Vice-Chancellor’s Prize for Best Doctoral Thesis.
