International visits

As Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading university and a globally engaged institution, the University of Auckland welcomes international visitors who share our commitment to research excellence, education innovation and global collaboration.

International visits play an important role in strengthening relationships, advancing shared priorities and enabling senior‑level engagement across research, education and international strategy.

University-level visits

The International Office coordinates official, executive‑level international visits that support the University’s strategic objectives and institutional partnerships. These visits are typically designed to:

• Advance or formalise partner relationships
• Enable senior‑to‑senior engagement
• Explore opportunities for collaboration and shared impact

Faculty-level visits

For international visits focused on faculty‑specific activities or relationships, please contact the relevant Associate Dean (International), who can advise on local processes and coordination.

If you represent an overseas institution, research organisation, government agency, or corporate partner and wish to arrange an official visit, please submit an International visit request form at least 45 days prior to your proposed visit date.

This timeframe supports effective planning, coordination and engagement with appropriate University leaders.

International visit criteria

Requests for official visits are considered based on strategic alignment, objectives and staff capacity. The International Office may support visits where:

• Delegations include senior leaders from universities, organisations, or governments
• Engagement is university‑wide, involving multiple faculties or service divisions
• Meetings are requested with the University’s senior leadership

While we value international engagement, the University is unable to accommodate all visit requests. We appreciate your understanding where a visit cannot be supported at a given time.
