International visits
Welcoming international visitors to Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland
Planning a visit
As Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading university, we welcome international visitors who share our commitment to excellence, innovation and collaboration.
International visits play an important role in strengthening partnerships and advancing shared priorities.
University-level visits
The International Office coordinates official, senior‑level visits that support our strategic goals and partnerships. These visits usually aim to:
- Build or formalise partner relationships
- Connect senior leaders
- Explore impactful ways to work together
Faculty-level visits
Some international visits focus on the work of a single faculty. For these, contact the relevant Associate Dean (International). They can advise on local processes and visit coordination.
Requesting an international visit
If you represent an overseas institution, research organisation, government agency or corporate partner and wish to arrange a senior-level official visit, submit an International visit request form. The form should be submitted at least 45 days before to the proposed visit.
This gives us the time to support effective planning and to coordinate with the relevant University leaders.
International visit criteria
We weigh each request against strategic alignment, the aims of the visit and our staff capacity. We may support a visit when:
- The delegation includes senior leaders from universities, bodies or governments
- The visit spans the whole university, across several faculties or divisions, and
- The delegation wishes to meet with our senior leaders
While we value international engagement, the University is unable to accommodate all visit requests. We appreciate your patience when we cannot support a visit at a given time.
