English language requirements

The University of Auckland sets standards for English language proficiency for admission to the University for international applicants.

All applicants whose first language is not English will be required to provide satisfactory evidence of their proficiency in English. As an undergraduate or postgraduate student, you can satisfy the English language requirements in a number of ways depending on your circumstances. In order to meet the requirements you must fulfil one of the options below.

From 2016, the University will introduce an academic English language requirement for entry into all its undergraduate programmes. Any international student applying on the basis of a New Zealand secondary school qualification or on the basis of results at another New Zealand tertiary institution must meet this requirement.

For more information please see Academic English language requirement.
