Dancing for hope

Nicholas Rowe, who helps young people in the Middle East express their feelings through dance.

Dr. Nicholas Rowe is a Senior Lecturer in the Dance Studies Programme at the University's National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries (NICAI).

He specialises in choreographing and teaching dance in traumatised communities and has been working in refugee camps in the Middle East for the past eleven years.

In April 2011 David Brill from the Australian television show Dateline followed Nicholas into dance workshops in the Bourj u Barajneh refugee camp in Beirut and documented his approach to dance-making in war zones.
