City campus closedown and road closure for Laneway Festival 2020
City Campus will be closed on Auckland Anniversary Day, Monday 27 January 2020. Partial closure of Princes Street, 22-29 January.
The annual St Jerome’s Laneway Festival will take place in Albert Park, Princes and Alfred Streets on Auckland Anniversary Day, Monday 27 January 2020.
Auckland Council are facilitating the arrangements for the event, on behalf of the event organisers.
On Auckland Anniversary Day, the University will be formally closed in order to support this event.
In addition, to enable the site to be set up for the event, Princes Street will be closed between Wellesley Street East and Waterloo Quadrant from 10pm Wednesday 22 January. The road closure will be lifted at 2am Wednesday 29 January. Access to Alfred Street will be affected for this duration.
A controlled vehicle entry point will operate at the intersection with Wellesley Street to permit authorised vehicle entry along Princes and Alfred Streets. Access to carparks 36 and 40 will be maintained. From midnight, Friday 24 January there will be no vehicle access.
Fencing will be erected around the festival site including sectors 100 and 300. Until the day of the festival, University facilities will be accessible.
On the day of the festival, entry to sectors 100 and 300 will be controlled by Security at gate 2 next to the Thomas Building (Building 110), and at the steps between the Recreation Centre Centre and the Kate Edgar Information Commons (Building 315). Unless prior approval has been authorised, entry within the zone will not be permitted.
