Bring your sanxian

My prized possessions are a traditional sanxian (a three-string instrument) with a hand-carved dragon head and my Bai ethnic clothing. They represent my cultural identity and family heritage. I grew up in Dali, where music and dancing are just a natural part of everyday life, so these items have always been close to me. Since moving to New Zealand, they’ve become even more meaningful, reminding me of where I come from while I adapt to a new environment. They have also helped me connect with people in my accommodation who share a love for music, which made settling in feel much easier.

Stuart McCutcheon House (SMH) is the perfect place for those who want to go flatting without the arduous commute to class. Located right next to the Auckland Domain and Parnell train station, SMH is the ideal residence for groups to make the most of their University years. SMH offers three- to six-bedroom flats, large communal areas, sports courts, music rooms, and much more.  SMH is open to all University students in their second year or above of study.
