Candidate: Xudong Shen

Read why Xudong Shen would like to represent students on the University of Auckland Council.

Hello everyone! My name is Shen Xudong. I am 22 years old and come from Tianjin, China. Currently, I am pursuing a master degree in Business Analytics at the Business School. Growing up in Tianjin has shaped me into a humorous, composed, and efficient individual. These qualities allow me to approach student-related responsibilities with a positive and steady attitude.

During my undergraduate studies, I served in the Student Union for three years, where I was responsible for organizing and hosting over twenty events. As a class president for four years, I consistently strengthened class cohesion, actively communicated with classmates to resolve issues, and served as a bridge between students and faculty. I also held a leadership position in a student club, where I effectively assigned tasks and ensured high-quality completion of work. On multiple occasions, I participated in organizing university-wide competitions and events related to arts, environmental protection, and knowledge, which involved thousands of participants. These efforts were highly recognized and appreciated by both faculty and students.

These experiences have honed my ability to process information meticulously and have equipped me with strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills. I am adept at listening to and understanding the diverse needs of students and can quickly identify solutions in challenging situations. As an ENFJ personality type, I am naturally inclined to communicate and serve others. This drives my passion to represent the student body and ensure that their voices are heard and valued in the university’s highest-level decision-making processes.

If elected as a student representative, I will diligently fulfill my responsibilities by actively participating in all council meetings and related committee work. I will thoroughly review and comprehend meeting materials, stay informed about trends in the education sector, and closely listen to and collect feedback from students. My goal is to address practical issues and contribute meaningfully to the development of our university.
