ORCID

Use an ORCID number as a unique identifier to distinguish yourself from every other researcher.

Benefits

  • Uniquely identifies you, avoiding mistaken identity.
  • Reliably connects to your research outputs, awards and organisational affiliations.
  • Provides continuity across your research career - you own and control your ORCID ID, enabling it to move with you, across institutions and name changes.
  • Saves you time, reduces repetitive data entry and facilitates automatic updates.
  • Increases discoverability, providing a persistent online profile.

Create and connect your ORCID record

By creating an ORCID ID and connecting it with the NZ ORCID Hub, you can grant permission to the University to use the system to authoritatively assert your relationship and read/write information (e.g. employment and education) directly to your ORCID record. You still own and control your ORCID record, but enabling the University to be the source of the information can save time and increase trust.

Full instructions on creating and connecting your record are in the NZ ORCID Hub sign-up guide.
