An online workshop supporting supervisors to navigate the management of sensitive research data with their students.

This 90-minute online workshop extends the material covered in the Research Data Management Policy and procedures for supervisors workshop, and is available in-person on request. Through the lens of international and national frameworks, attendees will learn best practices, considerations and tools for managing sensitive research data.
Attendance counts toward the development opportunities required for five-yearly reaccreditation of doctoral supervisors.

- Friday 8 May, 1pm-2.30pm
- Friday 9 October, 11am-12.30pm

Learning outcomes
Attendees will be able to:
- Navigate relevant University policies and legal requirements that regulate management of sensitive data
- Identify key considerations, including ethics, that apply to sensitive data.
- Apply frameworks that support planning for responsible and secure
management of sensitive data using best practices and systems. - Balance the benefits and restrictions around sharing sensitive data and metadata outputs.

If you are supervising sensitive research projects, especially those involving personally identifiable information or health data, we recommend that your postgraduate and doctoral students attend Managing research data workshop and Writing a Data Management Plan (DMP) workshop.
