Doctoral workshops with Hugh Kearns

Internationally-renowned speaker, educator and researcher Hugh Kearns returns with two exceptional workshops for doctoral candidates.

The School of Graduate Studies is thrilled to present two more workshops from ThinkWell's Hugh Kearns. Specifically crafted for doctoral candidates, these workshops will help you get to grips with tools, techniques and strategies for working more effectively - and with less stress - towards your doctorate.

How to plan your PhD

A PhD is a major undertaking, yet many people spend more time planning a weekend away than they do planning the next three years of their life. This generally leads to missing deadlines, running overtime, regular crises and lots of stress. If you want to finish on time and enjoy the process along the way then it is important to have a good plan.

This practical workshop will introduce you to some very specific skills and tools that will help you plan your PhD, so don't miss out!

Presenting your research with confidence

If you're a researcher then at some stage you are going to have to present your findings. It's tempting to get up and just read your paper, but to really speak to your audience you need to be able to communicate skilfully and with conviction.

This interactive workshop will provde a clear step-by-step structure that you can use again and again to give engaging, informative presentations. We warmly welcome doctoral candidates and research masters students at any stage of their degree to join us for this workshop.
