Winter warmers
Keeping our campus warm together.
Thank you to all of our kaimahi, staff who donated clothing items for the 2026 Winter Warmers event! We received 904 donations and only 70 items were left after the student events. This is a 61% reduction in leftover items compared to 2025.
We intend to run this event again next year.

What is winter warmers?
During the colder months, many students can struggle to stay warm with good quality clothing. Winter Warmers was started by the University Equity & Wellbeing team to provide support to students and give staff a way to give back to their community.
Donation collection: During the month of July, we collect winter items across the City and Grafton Campuses.
Distribution to students: In early August, we hold two events where students are able to pick two items that they get to keep for free.
Any winter items remaining after the events will be redistributed across the University for other students in need.
We are no longer accepting donations in 2026 but expect to call for more donations in Semester Two 2027.
