Carson, a student from The George Washington University, shares his ambitious adventure Studying Abroad at The University of Auckland.
"The University of Auckland is situated right in the heart of the city, so it was appealing to experience New Zealand’s largest urban area with such intimacy. Additionally, UoA offers an incredibly diverse array of academic programs. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to study topics closely intertwined with New Zealand and the Pacific as a whole.
"I enjoy the excitement and accessibility of Auckland. Like any large city, there is no shortage of entertainment while here. You can visit massive volcanic craters, have fun island adventures, or find a favorite dinner spot with some friends just down the street. It’s an incredible city that combines an urban lifestyle with the opportunity to escape into nature.
"I think my abroad experience will provide me with a greater understanding of the cultural nuance that exists throughout our world. It’s incredibly inspiring to have the opportunity to witness it for yourself, rather than read about it in a textbook. There is absolutely no replacement for witnessing a new city, country, or culture for yourself."
"The courses I've taken here have been incredibly eye-opening! I’ve loved getting to experience a form of higher education different than what I’m used to, as it’s only pushed me to grow. I’m eager to return to the United States with new and global perspectives that I can incorporate into the remainder of my studies."
