Parenting primary children

Dr Louise Keown, Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Education, discussed key changes in children’s social and behavioural development and parenting issues in middle childhood. Her presentation also looked at the influence of mother-child and father-child relationships and optimal parenting practices for fostering children’s positive development. Her talk was illustrated with examples from her research findings.

Dr Keown conducts research on parenting and atypical behavioural development and is also a member of the Triple P Research Group who conduct family intervention research aimed at preventing behavioural and emotional problems in children.
