The role of the the Poumatua Pūtea, Chief Financial Officer
The Poumatua Pūtea, Chief Financial Officer is a member of the University Executive Committee, and is head of Financial Services. This team provides finance, procurement, planning, decision support, treasury and risk management services across the University.
The Chief Financial Officer's role is to provide strategic leadership and advice to support the University in achieving its strategic and financial objectives. This includes leading the budgeting and forecasting process through the Budget Working Group, and supporting the Audit and Risk, Finance and Capital Expenditure committees.
About Tim Bluett
Tim took up the role of Chief Financial Officer at the University of Auckland in 2021. Prior to that his background covered CFO and senior leadership positions in listed corporations spanning the technology and telecommunications sectors in New Zealand and internationally. He joined the UniSaver board in 2024 as a universities-appointed director and brings a breadth of experience in finance, strategy, and governance.
