The role of the Poumatua Pūtea, Chief Financial Officer
The Poumatua Pūtea, Chief Financial Officer is a member of the University Executive Committee, and is head of Financial Services. This team provides finance, procurement, planning, decision support, treasury and risk management services across the University.
The Chief Financial Officer's role is to provide strategic leadership and advice to support the University in achieving its strategic and financial objectives.
This includes leading the budgeting and forecasting process through the Budget Working Group, and supporting the Audit and Risk, Finance and Capital Expenditure committees.
Tim Bluett
Tim was appointed as Chief Financial Officer in 2021 and expanded his remit to include the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Corporate Services responsibilities in 2024 until the end of 2025 when the Chief Operating Officer commenced. Prior to joining the University of Auckland, Tim’s career had been in the private and listed telecommunications and technology sectors in the UK, USA and New Zealand.
