Consultation open on revised University Smokefree Policy

10 February 2021

The New Zealand legislation on Smokefree Environments has recently been updated to include a position on vaping, with new provisions coming into force in November 2020.

In light of these changes, the University’s Smokefree Policy needs to be updated to be compliant with the new legislation, and a proposed draft policy has been developed.

The proposed policy treats vaping in the same way as smoking i.e., anyone wishing to smoke or vape is required to remove themselves from the campus environment and University facilities to do so.

Students, staff, and other stakeholders are invited to respond to the proposed policy changes over the next four weeks, the deadline for feedback being 4pm, Friday 12 March.

The draft policy is available now on the Policy Hub
